James Epps Homeopathic Medicine Box

A middle of the 19th century rosewood veneered Homeopathic medicine box by James Epps London.

James Epps (1821-1907) came from a very prominent family of Homeopathic physicians and pharmacists and was also the founder of a large cocoa business associated with his name.

The leather lined interior of the lid has "James Epps Homeopathic Chemist, 170 Piccadilly Gt Russell St, Bloomsbury & 82 Old Broad St City London".

The top layer of the box holds six glass bottles with paper labels and two leather folders, one containing scissors.

The drawer in the base contains space for 72 glass phials with cork stoppers.

Each of the glass phials has a paper label and initials to the top of the cork.

The drawer has a brass locking pin and a military style brass handle.

The box still holds it's very small brass spoon which is stored in the lid.

The box is in good condition with a working lock and key.

One of the smaller glass phials is missing out of the bottom drawer. (Circa 1850)
