A middle of the 19th century Scottish Victorian oak cased stick barometer with thermometer.

The barometer has an ivory engraved weather indicator with the scales and vernier racks and the maker's name "Gardner & Co, Opticians to the Queen, 58 Buchanan Street Glasgow" is engraved on the ivory panel.

The vernier racks are adjusted by mother of pearl knobs and the weather indicator is glazed and has a carved oak frame.

The thermometer has a long flat cistern for the mercury, is mounted on an ivory scale that reads 'Centigrade' and 'Fahrenheit' and is housed in an oak glazed case which slides upwards to lift off.

The base of the barometer has a circular carved oak cover over the cistern that holds the mercury.

The barometer and thermometer are in full working order and come with a 12 month guarentee by Robert Taylor & Son, the case has been sympathetically restored and wax polished.
