Hepplewhite Style Two Door Bookcase


An early 20th century mahogany Hepplewhite style bookcase.

The bookcase has a two door glazed top over a two door cupboard base with a drawer and slide.

The bookcase top has a decorative serpentine cornice which is pierced and has a carved acanthus scroll at each end.

The lower part of the cornice has a tapering dental style moulding with an acorn at each tip.

The bookcase top has two astragal glazed doors and two adjustable shelves.

The cupboard base is bow fronted with a pair of doors that are quarter veneered and have an oval flamed mahogany veneer to the centre of each door.

The bow drawer is oak lined and has circular brass ring handles and below the drawer is a slide with small ring handles.

The cupboard base has a single loose shelf and stands on kick out feet.

The bookcase is in good condition and has a working lock top and bottom and a single key. (Circa 1910)
