A fine Scottish Regency mahogany turn over top card table.

The table has a shaped top cross banded with rosewood and the front and the legs have ebony decoration.

The table is attributed to have come out of the workshop of William Trotter of Princess Street Edinburgh who is renowned for the making of fine furniture at the start of the 19th century.

The top revolves and opens out into a card table, when the top turns over it exposes an open compartment made for the storage of games.

The table stands on four short sabre legs with ebony line inlay and gilt brass hairy claw feet with brass casters.

The four legs join at an oblong platform with concave sides that are decorated with ebony.

Between the platform and table top are four figure 'S' supports that are ebony inlaid and with carved patrea detail.

The table leaves sit on top of a shallow frieze that is partridge wood inlaid and has an ebony honeysuckle flower in the centre.

The table is in very good condition with the odd mark to the top and is made from the finest timbers. (Circa 1810)
