A fine 18th century Hepplewhite design yew wood veneered tea caddy.

The caddy exterior is decorated to the top of the lid with an oval fan inset with a Sheffield plated ring handle and the edge strung with tulip wood.

The caddy front has the oval fan in the centre with an ivory keyhole escutcheon inset and an inlaid serpentine rail with swags at either end, again cross banded with satinwood and tulip wood edged.

The interior is exceptional with oval fans to the canister lids and the underside of the yew wood veneered lid.

The box is in good condition with replaced ribbons to help lift the lids. (Circa 1790)
