An 18th century Georgian Chippendale design mahogany bureau.

The bureau comprises a fall front writing flap and four long graduated drawers.

The interior of the bureau is fitted out with six drawers with brass battle axe handles that are serpentine in shape at each end and eight pigeon holes.

The central door is decorated with a fret work panel over original silk that is worn.

To the inside of the door are two drawers, the upper one disguised as a shaped cornice above a pair of pigeon holes.

The door has a pair of Corinthian pillars to either side which pull forward and have slim secret drawers behind.

The four drawers are mahogany lined and have their original gilt brass swan neck handles.

The bureau stands on impressive ogee shaped feet which have their original casters, in full working order, concealed underneath.

The bureau is in very good original condition with a wax polish, the baize writing surface is a replacement as are the hinges to the internal door. The flap has a working lock and key.

The bureau has an old candle burn mark in the top.
