An early 18th century George I pollard oak veneered and walnut chest on stand.

The chest top comprises three short over three graduated long drawers with their original brass handles.

The oak lined drawers are veneered with figured pollard oak to the front and have walnut 'herring bone' cross banding to the edges while the original engraved loop handles are held in place by split pins.

The three drawer base has drawers to match the top and the cabriole shaped legs are 19th century replacements.

The chest top has a moulded walnut cornice and bottom edge and the stand has a walnut moulded edge into which the chest sits.

The frame around the drawers has a double bead of walnut and the chest and stand sides are also walnut.

The chest would have had the replacement legs put on in the 19th century when the back boards must have been replaced. Two of the original steel locks are missing.
