A fine pair of mid 18th century early George III Sheffield plated candlesticks.

The candlesticks have a large square base with a gadrooned edge, a built in drip tray, a shaped stem with candle holder and a separate candle sconce.

The candlesticks have a Sheffield plate touch mark 'T H' stamped at the top edge and in the corner of the base is a family crest of a bird sitting in a crown.

The Sheffield plate or 'Fused Plate', where the silver has been heat banded to the copper, does show through in places "bleeding'.

The candlesticks are in very good condition for their age, the sconces are quite loose fitting and have old tape around them to keep them tight. (Circa 1760)

Height 24cm (9.4 inches)
