18th Century Georgian Silver Toast Rack

A late 18th century George III sterling silver toast rack.

The rack has hall marks for London, the year 1796 and the maker's mark for Peter Bateman & Ann Bateman.

Peter Bateman and his brother's wife Ann Bateman were the son and daughter-in-law of the famous Hester Bateman.

The toast rack has an oblong base raised on four short reeded sabre legs with nine double loops as the rack.

The toast rack is in good condition with very crisp hall marks under the base.
