*AS FEATURED ON THE BBC2 SHOW ANTIQUES MASTER*
A Regency rosewood veneered and brass inlaid ladies combined dressing/jewellery and writing box.
The box has a brass military plate handle set into the lid. The inside is fitted out with a writing slope that opens to stationary storage area, the writing surface is of gold tooled red leather to match two lift out lids. The larger lid lifts out and underneath is a bottle storage area and a red leather board to house a manicure set with some pieces missing.
The manicure set lifts out to another storage tray that also lifts out to reveal a red leather lined storage area. The side panel in this compartment slides up to gain access to two secret drawers. The oblong leather covered lid lifts out to reveal a silk lined ring and jewellery stroage area and this tray lifts out to more jewellery storage underneath.
To the back edge of the box is a narrow mahogany tray that lifts out to a storage area and the end panel in this area slides up and releases a spring drawer that comes open.
The outside of the box is in good condition and has been sympathetically restored. The interior is in excellent condition, the red leather only showing slight signs of use. The silk lined jewellery compartments are a bit discoloured. (Circa 1830)
