An early 19th century rosewood dressing/jewel box. The box has a brass shaped plate in the lid which is enscribed 'A M Love'. The interior is fitted out with a lift out tray that has four lid covered compartments, the tray is covered in green leather and underneath the tray is a storage compartment. At the back edge of the box are two brass topped glass jars and another compartment with a rosewood lid. The underside of the hinged lid has a green leather covered stationary folder and the maker's label "Thomas Woolfield, Desk & Dressing cases, Manufacturer, No 71 & 72 Church Street, Liverpool". The rosewood box is in good condition, the leather of the interior does show some signs of use. (Circa 1830) Height 12cm (4.7 inches) Width 27cm (10.6 inches) Depth 19.3cm (7.6 inches) |
