A fine 19th century Regency mahogany sewing or needlework box.

The box has gilded brass ring carrying and drawer handles and a working lock and key.

The top lid opens to a red paper lined storage area which holds some silks and cotton buttons plus a few wood thread holders.

The drawer which has a brass locking pin has many compartments holding wood thread holders, bobbins and other length of un-used threads, most old and could be original.

The box is in very good condition, the polish has been sympathetically restored. (Circa 1820)
