A late 19th to early 20th century coromandel wood games compendium box.

The box is coromandel wood veneered onto mahogany and houses many games on mahogany trays and compartments with a pair of hinged doors holding a bone chess set.

The games comprise a chess set, bone draughts also used for backgammon, bone dominoes, a cribbage board, playing cards and lead horses and fences for a racing game.

The lid holds a folding leather covered games board that can be used for chess, draughts or checkers, backgammon and the horse racing track.

The horse racing game has it's original six lead horses, four metal frame jumps and two mirror bottomed water jumps.

The box also holds two leather whist counters with instructions on the back, some instructions and rules for the card game 'Pit', some dice and three cribbage marker pegs.

The box is in very good condition with a working lock and key and has had the polish sympathetically restored.

The lead horses are worn from 'Galloping' around the track, the tips of their legs have gone and the fences are all there but worn.

The card games are complete along with the other games. (Circa 1900)
