A French "Four Glass" mantel clock.

The clock has a French eight day striking movement and a mercury compensating pendulum all held in a polished brass and glass case.

The clock has a white enamel dial with an open escapement, two key holes, one for the time and the other for the strike mechanism which strikes on a coil gong.

The works are made by Samuel Marti, a well known clock maker in Paris in the mid 19th century. In 1860 it's known that his premises were situated at Le Pays de Montbeliard and in 1863 Marti worked with two other well known clock maker's Roux and Japy Frères in promoting their clock movements.

The clock is in full working condition and comes with a twelve month guarantee. (Circa 1900)
