A fine quality Japanese Satsuma pottery vase from the Meiji period (1864-1911).

This slender vase is decorated with many hand painted figures of Japanese ladies in traditional kimono dress.

The scene continues around the vase showing ladies with children, one holding a banner and one holding a Japanese flag.

There are also a few male figures, one of which is holding a sun shade over some of the ladies.

The vase is very colourful with the shoulders decorated with pink flowers and foliage a gold painted rim and the detail picked out in gilt.

The vase is in very good original condition and has a single caricature mark underneath in gilt and black.
