Pair of Japanese Kutani Vases

A fine pair of late 19th century Japanese Kutani porcelain vases.

'Kutani' means 'Nine Valleys' and refers to a region in Japan where porcelain was mined.

The vases have a white background and are decorated in red with gilt highlighting.

The vases have two panel scenes showing Japanese women in traditional dress gathering logs and reeds.

The panels are surrounded with scrolling decoration and around the neck of the vases a tree in blossom.

Both vases are signed on the underside and are in good condition. (Circa 1900)
