A late 19th century Victorian mahogany coal depot.

The coal box is unusual in that it has a patent mechanism for opening the pair of mahogany doors at the front, you push the handle on the top, back and that levers open the doors at the front.

The depot has a pair of flat panel doors, a turned mahogany handle, a metal liner and an original shovel which is held in a bracket at the back.

The box is in good working condition, the metal liner is an old replacement and the shovel does show some wear to the blade from use.

The box is almost identical to another coal depot we have Code: 1964. (Circa 1895)
