A middle of the 19th century Victorian mahogany artist's paint box by Windsor & Newton.

The box has a large maker's label in the lid and at the bottom of the paint brush tray.

The label inside the lid reads "Windsor & Newton manufacturers, by appointment to Her Majesty and to His Royal Highness Prince Albert, 38 Rathbone Place London".

The box has a lift out tray holding twelve paint blocks, four other compartments and a brush compartment that holds brushes and a pallet knife.

The slim drawer underneath has a brass locking pin to keep it closed, a military brass handle and holds a mahogany paint pallet. (Circa 1850)
