Fine Coromandel Jewellery & Dressing Box

A mid 19th century Victorian coromandel wood veneered and brass edged jewellery or dressing box.

The box has a fitted interior with sterling silver topped bottles and jars.

To the front of the box is a spring drawer that is silk lined to hold jewellery and opens when a locking pin is removed.

The interior holds nine sterling silver topped cut glass jars and bottles and a tray holding some of the jars and a manicure set that lifts out to reveal a storage area.

The underside of the lid has a red velvet panel that falls forward to reveal a leather correspondence folder and a free standing leather covered mirror.

The back edge of the interior has a maker's label 'Fisher - Maker - 188 Strand' and the edge of the folder has 'Fisher 188 Strand Manufacturer'.

The sterling silver tops have hall marks for London, a young Queen Victoria's head, the year 1846 and two maker's marks, 'JH' for Judah Hart and 'TW & EN' for an unknown maker.

The box and fittings are in good condition, there is a lock but no key. (Circa 1846)
