Victorian Jewellery Dressing Box

A mid 19th century Victorian rosewood jewellery or dressing box.

The box is inlaid with mother of pearl and pewter and has a side drawer to hold jewellery.

The interior has several jars and bottles with sterling silver tops and a manicure set.

The interior has a lift out tray that holds the manicure set, four silver toped jars and two scent bottles and under the tray is a storage compartment.

To the back of the box are a pair of silver top scent bottles, a silver top jar and a tin storage box with a velvet covered lid.

The box lid has a fall down panel that has a leather correspondence folder on the reverse and has a lift out mirror.

The box has working locks and keys and the front lock is stamped 'VR' under a crown.

The sterling silver lids have hall marks for London, the year 1840 and a maker's mark for TD (possibly Thomas Diller).

The box and fittings are in good condition, the velvet to the interior and manicure set is slightly worn. (Circa 1840)
