Chinese Camphor Campaign Travelling Desk

A late 19th to early 20th century Chinese camphor wood campaign desk.

The desk has a retail label inside for 'Dr.to Kwong Man Shing, Hong Kong'.

The desk has a drawer to the front and when it is pulled open a tambour shutter opens at the top revealing a stationery rack.

The rack can be lifted upwards for access and the front slope opens to make a writing slope with pen racks above.

The upper part of the writing slope hinges forward to allow access to a storage area where you can see the retail label.

The panel with the retail label hides a secret compartment with two drawers.

The desk has brass edges and military style carrying handles and drawer handle.

The desk is in very good original condition with the wonderful aroma of camphor every time it is opened. (Circa 1900)
