The barometer has a mahogany case the front of which is herring bone veneered either side of the glass tube.

The barometer has a half round mahogany cistern cover at the base that has chequered inlay to the centre.

The barometer has a silverised register dial that is engraved 'D Stampa & Co. No 14 Leith Street Edinburgh' and holds an alcohol thermometer.

The dial has a glazed mahogany framed door that hinges open.
