French Ormolu & Porcelain Clock Garniture

A 19th century Napoleon III French Sévres style ormolu and porcelain three piece clock garniture.

The clock and side ornaments sit on velvet and gilt wood plinths which in turn sit on ebonised plinths that have glass domes.

The clock has an eight day movement that strikes the hour and half hour on a bell and the back of the works are stamped with the numbers 4996 and 'A B' with a star in-between for Louis-Achille Brocot.

Achille Brocot (1817-1875) is from the well known Brocot family of clock makers in Paris.

The porcelain dial is marked 'Paris' and 'Aird & Thomson' probably the retailers.

The clock and side ornaments are decorated with griffins and the centre panels of porcelain have scenes of Cupid with a lady.

The clock and side ornaments are in very good original condition, the clock is in good working order. (Circa 1870)
