George II Bracket Clock by Samuel Whichcote


An 18th century George II bracket clock by Samuel Whichcote.

The clock has an ebonised case with an inverted bell top and a gilt brass carrying handle.

The clock has eight day works that strike the hour and quarter repeat on six bells.

The movement is twin fusee, five pillar converted to anchor escapement and has an engraved back plate.

The dial has a silent strike secondary dial, date and a mock bob pendulum.

Engraved on the dial is the maker's name "Samuel Whichcote London" a father and son (1724 - 1748 & 1764 - 1766).

The clock is in good working order. (Circa 1740)
