Scottish Mahogany Grandfather Clock
An 18th century Scottish mahogany cased Grandfather clock.
The clock has a brass and silverised dial that is beautifully engraved and has a silvered disc to the top that is engraved 'Dan Brown Glasgow'.
Dan Brown is listed in 'Old Scottish Clock Makers' as working in High Street Glasgow in 1783.
The clock face has quality brass corner spandrels and arch casting depicting sea shells and mythical fish.
The clock has 8 day works that strike the hour on a bell.
The case is made from very good quality mahogany with a long broad door, shaped bracket feet and a blind fret work decoration to the hood that has a dental mould to the top edge.
The glazed hood door still has its original Georgian glass which looks wonderful, bubbles and all.
A very good quality Scottish Grandfather clock in full working order.
(Circa 1780)
