Georgian Mahogany Apothecary Cabinet


A late 18th to early 19th century Georgian mahogany Apothecary cabinet.

The mahogany cabinet has a lift up lid with compartments inside and an opening door with four drawers and bottle racks.

The top holds four long square glass bottles with gilt brass lids and paper labels, a pill rolling ceramic tile and two other bottles.

Of the four drawers, one is empty and one holds four glass bowls, pewter measures and a funnel.

Another drawer holds a glass mortar and pestle and the final drawer has two sliding lids to hold pills, one is labelled 'Duncan & Ogilvie Druggists 52 New Buildings North Bridge Edinburgh & 75 High Street Perth'.

The cabinet has a spring lock to keep the front door closed along with a hook and eye and to either side brass carrying handles.

The cabinet is in good condition with a working lock and key. (Circa 1800)
