Georgian Painted Satinwood Cabinet

An early 19th century Georgian satinwood cabinet bookcase on a two drawer stand.

The cabinet is ebony strung, mahogany cross banded, and decorated with hand painted foliage and other decorations.

The cabinet top has a pair of astragal glazed doors, the astragals are cross grained satinwood.

The cornice has a dental and hand painted detail with line inlays and the baize covered interior has two loose shelves.

The stand has two oak lined drawers with original oval ring handles and is cross banded and strung.

The four tapering legs have painted decoration and socks to the lower end.

The legs are joined by four serpentine supports with a shaped gallery edged tray in the centre.

The top of the legs have corner brackets decorated with painted fans.

This very attractive cabinet bookcase is in good condition and breaks down into three parts for transport. (Circa 1820)
