18th Century French Hepplewhite Arm Chair

An 18th century George III mahogany French Hepplewhite arm chair.

The chair has a broad upholstered seat with a serpentine front and carved cabriole shaped legs.

The back has three pierced splats, shaped arms with serpentine arm supports and the shaped arms have a carved scroll where your hand would rest.

The seat has late 19th century upholstery and brass studs around the edge.

The chair is in good condition and turns up well showing what could be the third time the chair has been re-upholstered.

A similar shaped Hepplewhite arm chair can be seen in 'The Dictionary of English Furniture' by Ralph Edwards Volume 1 page 297. (Circa 1775)
