18th Century George II Mahogany Chair

A mid 18th century George II carved mahogany chair.

The chair has a superb serpentine fluted and scroll ended top back rail with a carved acanthus in the centre.

The chair back is decorated with carved harebells and has a pierced centre splat.

The front legs are cabriole shaped with carved vine and grapes to the knee and a scrolling toe.

The back legs are turned with a pad foot and are pegged at the joints.

The chair has a drop in pad seat and had arms fitted in the past which have been removed though the marks can be seen.

The chair is in good condition, a tip of the acanthus carving on the left knee is missing. (Circa 1745)
