George VI Oak Coronation Chair
A 20th century oak chair made for the coronation of George VI in 1937.
The chair was made by W Hands & Sons of High Wycombe Buckinghamshire and is stamped underneath with a crown, G R VI 1937 and the maker's name.
The chair has its original but worn green velvet upholstery with the king's royal monogram/cypher embroidered into the back, G R under a crown.
An original chair, the seat fabric has been removed, lined and replaced back because of wear.
This is a collector's chair more for display than for use. (Circa 1937)
