Georgian Lady's Kneehole Desk

A late 18th to early 19th century Georgian mahogany lady's kneehole desk or dressing table.

The desk has an oblong top with a geometric pattern inlay cross banded edge and a thumb mould.

The front is veneered in a figured mahogany with box wood edges to the seven drawers and brushing slide.

There are three drawers each side of the kneehole, one long drawer above and a brushing slide above that.

The drawers are oak lined, have their original circular brass handles and the brushing slide has two brass knob handles.

The kneehole has an arch edged with box wood, a recessed cupboard, the door of which is flamed mahogany and inside is a fixed shelf.

The desk stands on six bracket shaped feet and above the kneehole is a decorative box wood inlay that runs below the long drawer and extends around both sides.

The desk is in very good condition. (Circa 1800)
