Rare Hour Glass Shaped Partner's Desk

An unusual and rare late 19th to early 20th century 'hour Glass' shaped mahogany partner's desk.

The shaped top has a replacement fitted black and gold tooled hide writing surface.

The oval pedestals have four bow fronted drawers each and a single drawer over the kneehole.

The drawers are mahogany lined, have figured mahogany fronts with chequered inlays and gilt brass drop handles.

The opposite side of the desk has two full height bow hinged doors with a single lose shelf inside. The desk has eight tapering legs with box wood line inlay and brass caster cups and casters.

The pedestals have figured mahogany sides that are decorated with chequered bands of inlay.

A very good quality desk in excellent condition.

The desk has a key for the centre drawer and keys for the pair of cupboard doors.

The design of the desk resembles one found in "The Gentleman and Cabinet Maker's Directory" by Thomas Chippendale, a library table No: LXXX.
(Circa 1900)

I have made a short video of the desk which you can see on my Instagram link below
