Victorian Cylinder Top Davenport Desk

A mid 19th century Victorian burr walnut cylinder top davenport desk.

The burr walnut is decorated with box wood line inlays and decorative inlaid panels.

Inside the cylinder top is a writing board that slides forward over your knees, the angle of the board can be adjusted.

To the right of the writing surface are a pair of original glass screw top inkwells, a pen rack and a storage area with a lid.

Above the writing surface is a pair of walnut fronted drawers with knob handles.

The top of the desk has a stationery storage compartment with a hinged lid that has a brass gallery.

The lower front of the davenport has a glazed door that opens to three loose shelves that have green leather fronts marked 'Songs', 'Gen|Music' and 'Dance'.

The glazed door is flanked by a pair of decoratively turned pillar supports.

The desk is lifted on bun feet that have concealed casters.

The desk has three keys and all the locks work.

The davenport is in very good original condition, there are some old, now dead, worm holes in the bun feet. (Circa 1860)
