George IV Rosewood Sofa Table

A fine early 19th century George IV rosewood drop leaf sofa table.

The table is made from figured rosewood and has two drawers to the front and two dummy drawer to the back.

The two drawers are oak lined and the right hand one is fitted for inkwells and pen storage.

The table has two drop leaves that have a pair of support flaps to hold them in place when open.

The drawers have decorative turned and carved rosewood knob handles and both are stamped 'W. Priest 1&2 Tudor Street Blackfriars.

W. Priest was a top quality auctioneer who auctioned fine library furniture at the start of the 19th century and stamped the pieces that went through his auctions.

The sofa table has a pair of platform bases with carved bun feet and concealed casters underneath.

The platform bases have a cross rail joining them and reeded baluster shaped supports.

The sofa table is in very good condition. (Circa 1825)
