Oak Library Table from Skibo Castle

A late 19th to early 20th century oak two drawer library table.

The table Is reputedly from Skibo castle, the Scottish residence of Andrew Carnegie.

The oblong top has rounded corners and a broad thumb moulding.

The base has four turned baluster shaped legs with fluted carving and bun feet.

The legs are joined by a magnificent curved and carved 'H' shape stretcher.

The two drawers are oak lined, have recessed fronts, a moulded inner edge and brass ring handles.

The table is in superb almost un-used condition, the drawers are like new inside.

The quality of the construction and oak is excellent, there is a slight chip to a ring turning. (Circa 1900)
