Georgian Treen Mahogany Cat

A late 18th to early 19th century Georgian treen mahogany cat.

The cat is made from three turned mahogany supports that are fixed to a central turned ball.

The base has three cabriole legs with pad feet and a turned pillar to support the ball.

A cat was used in the 18th and early 19th centuries as a plate or bowl stand and sometimes to hold a mirrored glass Witch's ball.

The cat is in good condition, the top support rotates on the tripod base. (Circa 1800)
