Napoleon III & Eugenie Bois Durci Medallions
Mid 19th century bois durci medallions of Napoleon II and his wife Eugenie.
The wording around the medallions reads "Napoleon III Empereur 1859" and "Eugenie Imperatrice 1859".
Bois Durci was used as an ebony or hard wood substitute and was made from hard wood sawdust mixed with animal blood that was heated and compressed in a mould.
Both medallions have an old small repair where the brass hanging rings are. (Circa 1859)
