A late 18th to early 19th century Georgian mahogany secretaire chest of drawers.

The top two drawer fronts of the chest are the fall front secretaire drawer over three graduated drawers.

The chest is smaller than many secretaires and the interior is fitted out with drawers, pigeon holes and a writing surface.

The secretaire is unusual in that what looks like a bank of eight drawers in the interior is actually one large deep drawer, for rolled up plans and two small drawers.

All the interior drawers are mahogany lined with turned ivory knob handles.

The frieze above the four pigeon holes is a pair of long slim disguised drawers and all of the interior drawers are in almost unused mint condition.

The three graduated drawers have oak drawer sides and have their original blue sugar paper lining.

The oval brass handles are decorated with thistles and are old replacements.

The chest is in very good condition with some old marks to the top from use, the polish has been sympathetically restored and wax finished. (Circa 1800)
