A large early 19th century rosewood veneered and mother of pearl inlaid barometer and thermometer.

The barometer comprises a silvered 12 dial with bowed glass and brass bezel, a thermometer on a silvered back plate in a rosewood frame and bowed glass, a circular wet & dry gauge at the top and an oblong spirirt level at the bottom with the maker's name "Barnascone Merthyr" engraved. The barometer has a swan neck pediment and brass urn shaped finial and at the back a metal hanging plate. The mother or pearl inlay consists of birds and foliage the detail of which is of an exceptional quality.
