19th Century Italian Majolica Charger
A 19th century Italian polychrome glazed majolica pottery charger.
The charger is in the style of earlier 15th-16th century pieces originating in Faenza.
The charger has a scene of an ancient battle, possibly The Battle of Gaugamela between Alexander The Great and Darius III.
The charger is in good order with vivid colours used throughout though there is some rubbing and flaking to the edges where the hanging wire has been attached.
The surface also has some crazing that comes with age. (Circa 1860)
