The Great Exhibition Pottery Lid

A middle of the 19th century pottery lid of 'The Exhibition of Art and Industry of all Nations".

The lids were made by T J & J Mayer for Crosse & Blackwell's potted meats.

The Mayers of Dale Hall Pottery, Longport, Burslem were a Staffordshire family.

The lid shows the Grand Exhibition Hall 'Crystal Palace' with people in the grounds around it.

The edge of the lid is printed with "The Grand International Building of 1851, For the Exhibition of Art and Industry of all Nations".

The lid is mounted in a circular gilt wood frame. The lid has a small nick to the left hand edge but is otherwise in good order. (Circa 1851)
