Collection of 7 "Cries of London" Prints

A collection of seven 19th century "Cries of London" lithographs by Francis Wheally.

The prints are held in Hogarth style black and gilt edged would frames with eglomise reverse painted and gilded surrounds.

The seven "Cries" in this collection consist of Primroses, Oranges, Matches, Mackerel, Cherries, Strawberries and Gingerbread.

The "Cries of London" refer to a variety of street cries which were part of the daily experience of walking through London in the Georgian era, including people calling their crafts.

The lithographs are in good condition, the frames are later than the prints and do have some minor nicks to the edges. (Circa 1840)
