Large Japanese Root Wood Okimono
A large 19th century Japanese carved root wood figure or Okimono.
Okimono is a term used to describe a standing ornament for display or decorative object.
This large piece of root wood tapers and at the top is carved the head and shoulders of a woman holding a small child.
The woman has a carved necklace and the child is holding a small flask in their right hand.
The okimono is in original condition with some old cracks running along the grain. (Circa 1880)
