Victorian Sterling Silver Nutmeg Grater

An early Victorian sterling silver hall marked nutmeg grater.

The little box has three sets of assay marks, on the lid the lower lid and along the edge of the rim.

The hall marks are for London, the year 1843, young Victoria's head and the maker's mark for Charles Rawlings & William Summers.

The nutmeg grater has a hinged upper lid for access to the grater and underneath a hinged base where the grated nutmeg comes out and a nutmeg can be stored.

The silver box containing the grater has a ribbed detail to all sides.

The nutmeg grater is in good original condition. (Circa 1843)
