18th Century Bird Cage Action Tea Table

A mid 18th century George II oval tip top tea or supper table.

The table has a bird cage action and is made from the finest quality Cuban mahogany with a wonderful grain, figuring and original colour.

The oval top is double the normal thickness with a rounded edge over a concave lower edge and the top is held by shaped bearers to the 'bird cage'.

The bird cage is mahogany with four turned mahogany baluster pillars and held to the stalk be a removable wedge.

The stalk is turned, bulbous and reeded with pea carving around its base and stands on three cabriole shaped legs with shaped pads under the toes.

The table is in good condition apart from some very old ring marks to the top. (Circa 1760)
