18th Century Chinese Export Teapot

An 18th century Chinese export porcelain teapot.

The teapot has a later silver metal spout and handle supports and a carved wood handle.

The teapot bears the heraldic crest, we believe, of the Bennet family of Devon.

The teapot would have been a commission made in China in the mid 18th century and then on arrival in England has had the spout and handle broken.

At great expense a replacement silver metal spout (possibly silver but no assay mark) and supports for the carved wood handle have been made in the later 18th century.

The teapot is in good condition but has an old chip to the rim of the lid. (Circa 1750)

Height 15cm (5.9 inches)
