18th Century Dutch Mahogany Armoire

A fine late 18th century Dutch mahogany armoire.

The armoire comprises a two door cupboard top over a two short over three long drawer chest base.

The cupboard top has a pair of flame mahogany veneered panel doors cross banded with kingwood and with gilt metal decorated outer edges.

The cupboard has a shaped cornice that is concave in profile and edged with kingwood.

The chest base has serpentine shaped sides flowing into shaped kick out front feet with gilded metal beading and toes.

The oak lined drawer fronts are flame mahogany veneered and kingwood cross banded and have wonderful gilt metal pierced handles with a ram's head in the middle and bull heads at either end.

The interior of the cupboard has two large fixed oak shelves with mahogany fronts ends and a small fixed high shelf.

To the bottom edge of the cupboard are three mahogany veneered drawers with gilt brass knob handles. (Circa 1780)
