18th Century Hepplewhite Elbow Chair

A late 18th century Georgian Hepplewhite mahogany elbow chair.

The chair has a domed top rail with a pierced and carved centre splat that is decorated with carved acanthus leaves and an urn.

The shaped arms have a swept support with a reeded edge, the chair seat is serpentine in shape to the front and has a loose pad seat upholstered in a later needlework material.

The front legs are square and tapering with a spayed toe and are joined to the back legs with a 'H' shaped cross stretcher and have an extra rail between the back legs.

The chair is a very good example made from very good quality mahogany. (Circa 1790)
