18th Century Oak Mule Chest

An 18th century George II oak mule or dower chest.

The chest has a hinged lid, three recessed fielded panels to the front and two drawers with fielded fronts to match.

The drawers are oak lined and have original brass handles and steel locks.

The chest has flat recessed panels to the sides and stands on short bracket shaped feet.

The hinged lid has a moulded overhanging edge and the interior holds a candle box and three small drawers with brass knob handles.

The chest is a very good original colour with pegged joints, while the top has an old shrinkage crack to the back right and a couple of marks. (Circa 1750)
