18th Century Sheffield Plate Tea Pot

A late 18th century Georgian Sheffield plate oval tea pot.

The tea pot is unusual in that not many of this design can be found made of silver plate.

The tea pot has an oval body with a fine pea mould to the three rims and is finely engraved with bows, foliage and a scene in the centre of the cartouche.

The cartouche on both sides has a house with fields and trees engraved.

The tea pot has a shaped carved wood handle and an oval lift off lid that is engraved to match and has a baluster shaped knob.

The tea pot is in original unrestored condition with the odd mark from use and the underside of the handle is scorched. (Circa 1795)
